Thomas Clarkson Academy is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, England. Originally the Queen's School, it was established following the merger of the secondary modern Queen's Girls' School and Queen's Boys' School in the 1970s. It was renamed Thomas Clarkson Community College in 2007 under the Fresh Start initiative following a poor Ofsted examination.〔(Decision to shut 'failing' school ), BBC News, 1 March 2007〕 It is named after Thomas Clarkson, the Wisbech-born abolitionist and leading campaigner against the slave trade in the British Empire. The school converted to academy status in June 2012 and was renamed Thomas Clarkson Academy.〔(New term - new school for Wisbech ), Cambridgeshire County Council, 06/01/2012〕 As an academy, the school is sponsored by Brooke Weston Trust. It offers a range of GCSEs and BTECs to pupils as courses of study. Sixth form have options to study a range of A Levels and BTECs.
